Training Opportunities
Missions Institute
Missions Institute is a first-step exposure for pastors or leaders to Foursquare
Missions International. This three-day program provides an introduction to
our Foursquare Missions Heritage; Personnel; Philosophy; Programs and partnership
with the local church. The Institute provides an excellent overview for local
leadership to develop their own missions strategy. Contact Caroline Crews
at Foursquare Missions International to make arrangements.
Missions Encounters
Missions Encounters are held at WorldBase L.A., a center where people from all
nations, called by God, are trained and equipped to serve cross-culturally.
These Encounters combine classroom instruction with practical ministry experience
to prepare individuals to serve in either short- or long-term ministries.
The
Encounters include classroom instruction in the morning led by Foursquare Missions
International staff and missions ministry leaders. Some of the topics covered
are: Foursquare Missions vision, biblical basis for missions, historical perspective,
cultural issues, missions strategies, four-stage model, and more.
In the afternoon the participants are involved in practical “hands-on” ministry
in conjunction with the Los Angeles Dream Center, other local ministries, or
one of the many culturally diverse churches in the Los Angeles area. Some of
these ministries include: feeding the homeless, working with teen runaways,
adopt-a-block, food distribution, skid row evangelism, and sidewalk Sunday
school (Metro Kids).
The Encounters are held throughout the year and run from one to six weeks,
and can be taken consecutively or individually. They break down as follows:
- Missions
Encounter I (One Week)
- Missions Encounter II (One Week)
- Missions Encounter III (Two Weeks)
- Missions Encounter IV (Two Weeks)
Just think you could reach the nations
by coming to WorldBase L.A.!

Sending a Short Term Impact Team
World Impact Teams
A World Impact Team is a partnership between Foursquare Missions
International, your local Foursquare church and the national church
you will go to
serve. The
invitation of another country to participate in their long term
vision and goals is a significant opportunity to give, grow and learn
in the context
of another
culture.
World Impact Teams make it possible for Foursquare churches
in North America to get direct exposure to cross-cultural, missions
ministry through
involvement in a variety of general and specialized short-term
ministry
team assignments.
These assignments include: Evangelism, children’s ministry, youth
ministry, teaching English, sports evangelism, construction, medical/dental
and
leadership development.
Contact Jim Holm, Willamette District Missions
Representative, at (503) 370-8886 or jimh@newhopefoursquare.org to

Developing a Missions Strategy
Pray, Give & Go!
With a worldwide vision and a worldwide network, every Foursquare
church is capable of having a worldwide impact. In response
to the Great Commission,
believers
should have the opportunity to PRAY specifically for missions
activity and personnel; to GIVE financially for the extension
of the gospel
around the
world; and to
GO into all the world. Consider each of the following, or a
combination, in developing your worldwide strategy:
PRIORITY
# 1: Foursquare
Missions International General
Fund Giving
It is difficult to match the effectiveness of giving
to Foursquare Missions. Recent analysis has shown that one person
responds
to the gospel and
is discipled for every $8 given to FMI. As Foursquare churches,
we are able
to join together
and see the difference our giving makes all around the world.
PRIORITY
# 2: Short Term Impact Teams
In cooperation with Foursquare Missions,
specific areas of
need are targeted so that local churches can really make a
difference.
A church
can send
a team of their own, or tie into a group already heading to
the field. These
short-term
teams provide an excellent opportunity for people to GO and
be touched by a missions experience for adult or youth teams.
PRIORITY
# 3:
Church Sponsored
Missions
Personnel
Missions support becomes very personal when someone
from your own local church is prepared and selected for a field
assignment. These
people
can serve as
Foursquare Missions Associates or as Mission Team Specialists,
depending upon their expertise
and duties. Fully funded by the sponsoring church, these assignments
are made based upon actual needs in the field, through the
coordination of
the Foursquare
Missions office.
PRIORITY # 4: ‘Church to Church’ Relationships
If your church
already has an existing relationship with a church in another part
of the world, you may be able to use
that relationship
for the glory
of God and the extension of His kingdom. It may be very helpful
to communicate with
Foursquare Missions for possible support or missions giving
credit.
PRIORITY # 5: Non-Foursquare Missions
Once other avenues have been
exhausted, you may consider involvement with other missionary organizations,
like YWAM, Operation Mobilization,
or others.
These
generally do not qualify for missions giving credit.
